Burt Bacharach Performs ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ At Glastonbury

Video of the legendary Burt Bacharach performing his classic composition ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ at the Glastonbury Festival this year is streaming at YouTube.

The 87-year old songwriter wrote ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ initially for the movie ‘Night Shift’ in 1982. It was first recorded for the soundtrack by Rod Stewart and then covered three years later by Dionne Warwick and Friends in 1985.

The Warwick cover had an all-star cast with Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder and Elton John also featured on the her hit.

The Dionne Warwick and Friends version of ‘That’s What Friends Are For’ was released as a charity single as a benefit for the American Foundation for AIDS Research. The charity received over $500,000 from the song.

Burt Bacharach will return to Australia and New Zealand in October and November for Bluehawk Presents.
