Pink Floyd fans are finding the newly released The Wall Redux is the most adventurous project to recreate the Roger Waters masterpiece to date.

The Wall Redux breaks down the original Pink Floyd album to recreate the entire work with a different act on every song.

The acts making up The Wall Redux are ASG, Blue Heron, Church of the Cosmic Skull, Domkraft, Ghastly Sound, Greenleaf, Low Flying Hawks, Mark Lanegan, Mars Red Sky, Melvins, Mos Generator, Open Hand, Pallbearer, Ruby the Hatchet, Sasquatch, Scott Page, Scott Reeder, Sergeant Thunderhoof, Solace, Spaceslug, Summoner, Sunflo’er, The Slim Kings, WhiteNails, Worshipper, Yawning Man, and Year Of The Cobra.

Buzz Osborne’s Melvins start this new edition of The Wall with an inventive version of ‘In The Flesh’ were they merge Blondie’s totally unrelated 70s hit with the Pink Floyd The Wall opener.

Osborne is still touring Melvins and is the constant in the band since forming the band in Montesano, Washington in 1983, just four years after the release of the Pink Floyd album.

Mark Lanegan formed Screaming Trees not far and not long after Osborne was breathing life into The Melvins. Screaming Trees formed in nearby Ellensburg, Ashington in 1985 and are cited along with Melvins, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and Green River as founders of Grunge.

Lanegan performs Nobody Home with Alain Johannes for The Wall Redux.

The Damned + The Hard Ons, Northcote Theatre, Friday 22nd March 2024

The Damned released the first ever UK punk single, “New Rose” off album Damned, Damned, Damned, in 1976, and were often overshadowed by their English punk counterparts. Now in their late sixties and still touring world-wide, featuring the original line up of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray, they are the ones having the last laugh and have left their old rivals for dead, in certain respects, quite literally!
