Courtney Barnett and Michael Franti To Play Woodford Folk Festival 2015

Courtney Barnett and Michael Franti are two of the names set to perform at the Woodford Folk Festival in December.

In the first announcement Courtney Barnett, Boo Seeka, Josh Pyke, Nattali Rize, Lanie Lane, Harry Manx (USA), San Cisco, Trinity Roots (NZ), Kim Churchill, Dougie Maclean (SCOT), The East Pointers (CAN), Moana and The Tribe (NZ), The Duhks (CAN), Ed Kuepper, Four Play, Katie Noonan’s Vanguard, The Poozies (SCOT), Paper Kites, Tora, Tinpan Orange, Montaigne, Timberwolf, Briggs and Marlon Williams (NZ) will play at Woodford.

The Woodford Folk Festival also features political talks with Julia Gillard, Bob Hawke and Malcolm Turnbull taking the podium in the past. This year Noel Pearson will address Indigenous Constitutional rights via the A Rightful Place Forum. Environmental World Heritage Listing is a focus, with the Kimberley highlighted by Mark Jones and Albert Wiggan and hosted by George Negus. Rhoda Roberts hosts Ancient Cultures, New Conversations and the University of the Sunshine Coast presents The Climate Conversation, a curated series of talks.

“Woodford Folk Festival is a gathering where important conversations can happen. I’m looking forward to being part of the A Rightful Place Forum there in December.” said Pearson.

The Woodford Folk Festival is on December 27 to January 1 at Woodfordia in Queensland.
