The third point of Melbourne’s rock n’ roll Bermuda Triangle (alongside Pony and Cherry), the Ding Dong Lounge is set to reopen in early July following the fire at the German beer house below which shut it down.

They promise a complete reinvention of the former rock sweatbox which has hosted the likes of The Melvins, Silversun Pickups, The White Stripes, Plan B, The Kills, Peaches, Mike Patton, Ariel Pink, Death From Above 1979, Supersuckers, The Ting Tings, as well as many a notorious after party.

There will be a faux ladies’ lounge, Studio 54-esque disco bandroom, a special VIP den, a garden balcony and new views over Chinatown.

To relaunch the venue, Mark Lanegan (of the Screaming Trees, Queens Of The Stone Age and the Gutter Twins) will do an exclusive one-off solo show on Friday 6 July.

And on Saturday 7 July, sister act Stonefield will test the new foundations with a closing set for their ‘Bad Reality’ National Tour.

There are only 300 tickets available for each show, so they should both be extra-special. Head over to http://dingdong.oztix.com.au/ to grab ‘em. For those who have forgotten where The Ding Dong Lounge is due to previous overexcitement, head to 18 Market Lane, Melbourne, off Bourke St in between Russell and Exhibition Sts in Chinatown.

Check out our recent chat with Stonefield below.
