Ex-Eagle Randy Meisner Under Court Supervision Following Murder-Suicide Threat

by Paul Cashmere on July 9, 2015

in News

Randy Meisner, the former bass player for the Eagles, has been placed under 24/7 supervision after threatening to kill hospital staff as well as himself in January.

68-year Meisner allegedly threatened to “gun down everyone with an AK-47” while being treated at an Encino hospital. He did not have a weapon at the time of the threat.

A temporary conservator has been appointed for Meisner by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Cunningham. Meisner will be kept under 24 hour observation, his prescription drug intake will be monitored and his medical state re-evaluated at a hearing in September.

Randy Meisner was a founding member of Poco and the Eagles. His best known Eagles song is ‘Take It To The Limit’. Meisner co-wrote the song with Don Henley and Glenn Frey and sang lead vocal on the recording. He also wrote and sang lead on the ‘Hotel California’ track ‘Try and Love Again’.

Meisner abruptly quit the Eagles at the height of their fame in 1977 as the ‘Hotel California’ album was released. He was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit.

Randy Meisner has released five solo albums. The most recent was ‘Love Me or Leave Me Alone’ in 2005.
