Sydney 70’s rock act Finch will reunite for their first shows in nearly 40 years.

The original line-up of Bob Spencer on guitar, Owen Orford on vocals, Tony Strain on bass and Peter McFarlane on drums has announced shows for 2020 but are yet to announce dates and venues.

Finch formed as Stillwater in 1972 and became Finch in 1973. In 1974 they won the 2SM Pepsi Pop Poll and released their debut single ‘And She Sings’ in January of that year. Their first album ‘Thunderbird’, released independently, was released in 1976.

They also released the single ‘Short Changed Again’ in December 1976.

The following year Bob Spencer left to join Skyhooks and a new line-up, now featuring former AC/DC bass player Mark Evans, recorded the ‘Nothing To Hide’ album for U.S. record label Epic Records. That album generated the Number 25 hit song ‘Where We You’.

To take on America, the Finch had to be changed as there was already a Finch in Holland. Australia’s Finch became Contraband and a third album was released under that name. The Contraband name confused Australian fans and failed to ignite with American ones . Contraband released two singles ‘Rainin’ Gain’ and ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ and then the band disbanded.

Hop over to Finch’s all-new Facebook page for updates of the reunion.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
