Germany has been named as the first Music Passport country with the countries music industry reps heading to Melbourne for the Face The Music conference.

Music Passport is a Victorian government initiative for the music industry to connect the local industry with a target country to improve relationships and networks.

The Victorian Government introduced Music Passport as part of the government’s $22.2 million Music Works program.

German representatives at Face The Music are:

Bjørn Pfarr, Head of Music Program and Alternate Director, Reeperbahn Festival
Michael Pohl, Managing Director, Kontor New Media
Michael Schuster, Managing Director, Cargo Records
Silke Westera, Promoter, FKP Scorpio
Katerina Ivanova, Project Manager, Sound Diplomacy

Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley said Music Passport is part of a suite of programs designed to strengthen all aspects of the Victorian music industry. “Our multifaceted Music Works initiative aims to strengthen our industry at all levels – from artists and venues to labels, managers and those working behind the scenes. The Music Passport stream focuses on supporting local musicians and music businesses to forge international connections and create new opportunities. I encourage all Face the Music delegates to find out more about the program at this year’s conference and explore new ways to ensure your music ‘works’ in Victoria, and right across the globe.”

The Face The Music conference will include talks designed to open music industry conversation between Australia and Germany.
