Academy Award winning songwriter Glen Hansard went back to his hometown of Ballymun, Ireland to create a personal video for his song ‘High Hope’.

Directed by Hedi Rose, the concept of the video was to recreate scenes from Glen’s childhood memories. It was “put together with recreated scenes of Glen’s memories and documentary footage that formed and informed his childhood,” Hedi explains.

For the clip Hedi recruited the locals to play and sing along.

The track appears on Hansard’s first solo album ‘Rhythm and Repose’, released in June, 2012.

Hansard is lead singer of The Frames and half of The Swell Season. In 2007 he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Once’.

Glen will tour Australia in March for Gaynor Crawford Presents and perform at Bluesfest.

Bluesfest Melbourne Day Two was a rollercoaster ride. There was so much great music packed into one day that it was impossible to see it all. I expected and received absolute stunning performances from blues legend Buddy Guy and Americana royalty Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle but it’s the least expected that makes you walk away wanting more.
