Green Day’s setlist at Soundwave Melbourne often came across sounding like classic hits radio station Gold 104 on Friday.

Green Day played the classic hits by Rick Springfield (Jessie’s Girl), Men At Work (Who Can It Be Now) and AC/DC (Highway to Hell) during their three hour headline set.

Classics by Black Sabbath (Iron Man), Led Zeppelin (Rock and Roll), The Isley Brothers (Shout) and The Beatles (Hey Jude) also padded out the Green Day setlist but the surprise addition was Billie Joe Armstrong performing The Everly Brothers ‘Put My Little Shoes Away’ in the encore. Armstrong recently released the song with Norah Jones on their ‘Foreverly’ album. ‘Foreverly’ is a complete cover of the entire 1958 Everly Brothers album ‘Songs Our Daddy Taught Us’. It was the first time Green Day have performed the song publicly.
