Hip-hop newbie and Heatwave visitor Kid Cudi is about to drop a rock side project featuring Empire Of The Sun.

Cudi has teamed with his longtime friend and early production partner Dot da Genius for the alt-rock group WZRD, whose self-titled debut album will be released on his birthday.
There have already been some snippets from the WZRD project, including the Fright Night soundtrack tune ‘Nobody Believes Me’, the previewed ‘Brake’, and the mooted first single ‘Teleport 2 Me’.
In November last year Kid Cudi revealed on twitter that the only feature on the WZRD album is Australian electro-pop space cadets Empire Of The Sun.
‘Brake’ is certainly a trippy number, reminiscent of cultish ‘70s psychedelic rock, so the album will be curious at least (well, he did note that Sabbath’s ‘The Wizard’ inspired the name.
WZRD will be out on his 28th birthday, January 30, right after he goes around Australia with TechN9ne, D12, Obie Trice, Chamillionaire, and Crazy Town on the Heatwave Festival from January 12 to 22.
His next hip-hop album Man On The Moon III will come out later in the year. Check out the acid-tinged ‘Brake’ below.
