Ian Moss has debuted a new music video for his soulful ‘Hold On (To What You Got).

The song, from Moss’ recent self-titled album, is one of the tracks Ian has been performing live on his tour.

Ian wrote ‘Hold On (To What You Got)’ with Gary Nicholson and Sam Hawksley. “When a song-writing session really works it’s such a good feeling,” Ian says. “Gary Nicholson is a blues guy in Nashville with a voice that’s a cross between Peter Gabriel and Steve Winwood. I played him the guitar riff and he said, “Stop!” He then put his head down with pen and paper for 10 minutes. Then he demanded I play the riff again. Ten minutes later, he started singing the verses. We were literally dancing around the room. Gary sang the song, and I copied his phrasing and melody, note for note.”

Ian Moss’ is the first solo album for the Cold Chisel guitar legend since 2009 and Ian’s first album of all-original material since ‘Petrolhead’ in 1996. Ian co-wrote all of the songs on the album with the exception of a Steve Prestwich track ‘My Suffering’. ‘Ian Moss’ comes full-circle for Ian, the album was produced by Peter Walker who produced the first Cold Chisel album in 1978.

Ian Moss will head out on a solo Australian in February.

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
