The jury has delivered their verdict in the suit that the Jackson family brought against AEG Live following the death of legendary singer Michael Jackson.
The jury found that, even though AEG hired Dr. Conrad Murray, they did not believe that he was unfit or incompetent to treat Jackson when the company brought him on. As it was found that AEG hired a competent physician, there was no reason to move forward with the lawsuit.
Both of the verdicts were unanimous even though only 9 jurors were needed for a decision.
Murray was found negligent in Jackson’s death during a criminal trial; however, that was based on his actions that caused Jackson’s death and not his competency as a doctor.
Overall, the trial took five months with testimony revolving around the hiring of Murray and whether AEG directed the health care of the singer, often delving into Jackson’s mental and physical health. Deliberations only lasted three days.
