Jazz Bell Award Shortlist Nominees Announced

The Jazz Bell Awards nominee shortlist is here with Barney McAll up for four of the seven awards.

Barney is for Best Instrumental Jazz Album, Best Produced Album, Best Australian Jazz Song and Best Small Jazz Band.

The Bells are a unique music awards show for Australia as the only awards in Australia to acknowledge excellence specifically for jazz performance, creativity and presentation.

Created by Albert Dadon (Albare) and named after Australian jazz great Graeme Bell, the Bells are now in their 14th season. “The prestigious Australian Jazz Bell Awards honour the jazz art form in Australia, recognising the achievements of young, upcoming and established Australian jazz performers and composers,” Mr Dadon said.

Best Australian Jazz Vocal Album
• Kristin Berardi – Where Or When
• Vince Jones + Paul Grabowsky – Provenance
• Olivia Chindamo – Keep An Eye On Spring

Best Instrumental Jazz Album

• Julien Wilson Quartet – This Narrow Isthmus

Best Produced Album
• Barney McAll – Mooroolbark
• Mike Nock/ Laurence Pike – Beginning And End of Knowing

Best Australian Jazz Song/Composition of the Year

Best Australian Small Jazz Band (Up to 6 members)

Best Australian Jazz Ensemble

The Jazz Bell Awards will be held for the first time at Albare’s new Birds Basement in Melbourne on Monday, June 20, 2016.
