Jethro Tull’s third album, Benefit, will receive the special edition treatment on October 28 via Chrysalis.

The 2-CD/1-Audio DVD set will feature the original album, single versions of songs, demos, radio spots and more. The audio DVD has the original album in 5.1 surround plus bonus songs. Steve Wilson is responsible for the 5.1 mixes.

In addition, the Collector’s Edition includes a booklet with a new 8,000 word essay by Martin Webb, interviews with band members and rare and previously unseen photographs.

Benefit was released in April of 1970 and marked a change for the group from blues-influenced music to a harder rock sound. It was the first album to include pianist and organist John Evan, joining Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Clive Bunker, Glen Cornick and David Palmer. The album peaked at 11 in the U.S., where it went gold, and 3 in Britain.
