Joe Jackson Returns To His Angry Punk Roots With ‘Fabulously Absolute’

by Paul Cashmere on October 29, 2018

in News

Joe Jackson is an angry man again and it sounds good. Jackson is back sounding like his ‘Look Sharp’ origins with ‘Fabulously Absolute, the first taste of his 2019 album ‘Fool’.

Joe’ return to his punk roots was intentional. Jackson’s first album ‘Look Sharp’ was released in March 1978 and was followed up with his second album ‘I’m The Man’ in October 1978.

In a statement Joe said, “When it looked like I’d be recording in late July and mixing around my birthday, in August, it struck me that the only other occasion that had happened was while making my first album. It still took a while for it to sink in: this would be 40 years on. How do I feel about this? Well, how would you feel?! It seems like quite a long time, but it doesn’t seem that long. I don’t feel much different. My hair has gone white, but eyes, ears and limbs are all still working. I’m still making music because I still love it; if I ever stop loving it, I’ll stop doing it”.

‘Fool’ was co-produced by Jackson and producer Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard). It will be released on 18 January, 2019.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
