John Butler Trio Play Melbourne REVIEW INTERVIEW

in Live,News,Reviews

Kicking off their first extensive Australian tour in 4 years, The John Butler Trio were welcomed to a crowd of controlled fans as they stepped on stage to embark on their first Melbourne show of the “Flesh & Blood” tour.

Emma Louise warmed up the crowd with her tranquil voice, playing the likes of her album Vs Head Vs Heart. The crowd amping up once her well known single ‘Jungle’ filled the room.

The John Butler Trio started off their show with a raw performance of ‘Revolution’, the room was filled with an excited ambience for the night ahead. John Butler captivated the audience and connected with them via explaining the meaning/concept behind songs, which he recognized as introducing “his friends to his other friends” (meaning his songs to his fans).

Playing their all too familiar hits such as ‘Better Man’, ‘Only One’ and ‘Funky Tonight’ the room was completely indulged in the music surrounding them.

Following John’s solo of his song “Ocean”, the rest of the trio appeared on stage with a cake for John’s 39th birthday, and the whole stadium sung Happy Birthday in harmony to John as he blew out his candles.

John Butler remains one of the true outstanding musicians of Australia at the moment, as this was evident in his outstanding performance.

Thanking the crowd and his crew, the show went on to play more of what the crowd asked for, and wrapping up 2 hour performance, left the stage with the crowd eager for more as the standing ovation lasted for more than 5 minutes, resulting in the trio appearing for a final two songs.”
