Judah Kelly and Hoseah Partsch Become More Roadkill From The Voice

The Voice has once again rendered young Australian talent roadkill at the start of their career.

Sales for winner Judah Kelly and runner-up Hoseah Partsch have dried up just three weeks after release. Kelly’s ‘Count On Me’ has departed the Top 100. Partsch’s ‘Paper Planes’ has left the Top 500.

‘Count On Me’ debuted at no 19 three weeks ago with 7980 sales. 411 of those came from streaming. Last week it dropped to no 35 with sales halving to 3506. This week it is at no 108 after another half-life taking it to 1446 sales.

Kelly’s sales can be considered an outstanding success when compared to Partsch. ‘Paper Planes’ debuted at no 35 with 5147 sales before falling to 107 last week with 1206 sales and this week disappearing from the top 500 completely. That means it did less than 500 sales.

Last week on social media there was a bit of chatter about how radio is not supporting the contestants of The Voice. Radio shouldn’t support the contestants because the songs are simply not good enough. It is not radio’s job to blindly accept reality TV programming as A&R. It is the job of the music industry to stop being so lazy.

After six seasons of The Voice there is still no break-out star. Karise Eden, Harrison Craig, Anja Nissen, Ellie Drennan and last year’s Alfie Arcuri are already all off the entertainment map.

With all of The Voice roadkill littering making the show really truly a highway to hell for its contestants its nice to see there are some winners … the judges. Seal, Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland and Boy George pocketed millions from the show this year while the winners became losers.
