Ken Firth, bass player for Melbourne’s 70s pop band The Ferrets, has passed away.

Firth co-wrote The Ferrets biggest hit ‘Don’t Fall In Love’ with singer Billy Miller. Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum produced the song under the pseudonym Willie Everfinish, because of the time it took Molly to do the job.

Before joining The Ferrets, Firth was a member of Buster Brown during 1975. Future Ferrets Billy Miller and Dave Springfield. Miller and Firth were also involved with the stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar from 1972-1974.

Ken and Billy reunited as Billy Miller and the Great Blokes (1979-1982). Ken also served for a short time as bass player for Divinyls between Jeremy Paul’s departure and Rick Grossman’s inauguration.
