The world-beating prog-psych-electro trio have been drafted in to provide the soundtrack to a selection of “information films” from Britain’s famous Rank Organisation at an event in conjunction with Melbourne Music Week in November.

A few days back they posted on Facebook: “having fun on this project at the moment. writing and performing a warped soundtrack for this ’60s newsreel series ‘Look at Life’. it’s progressing in grand and interesting ways. will perform at ACMI Australian Centre for the Moving Image in melbourne in november…”

The Look At Life event presents an hour of newly-restored filmreels from 1959 to 1969, depicting British society throughout that time, from fashion to science to everyday life.

The Rank Organisation filmreels of the era have been obsessed over by modern artists and digital musicians for their fascinating retro-futuristic bent, most recently documented in Simon Reynolds’ book Retromania Pop Culture’s Addiction To Its Own Past.

It’ll be a truly unique experience, as the Juggers provide a live “kaleidoscopic jam” to accompany the films.

The event takes place on Friday 25 November from 8pm. More information and ticketing details can be found at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image here.
