Midweek Chart: Katy Perry Expected To Stay On To Of Australian Chart

Katy Perry looks set to “Roar” at the top of the Australian charts for a third week this coming weekend, but a couple of overseas tourists could jet their way into our top five singles too.

John Newman and MKTO were both in the country over the past week, and that could help their current singles to jump up into the Top 10, with John’s “Love Me Again” (HP-23, TW-30) and MKTO with “Classic” (HP-9, TW-18) set to surpass their previous peaks and land either in the top ten or maybe even the top five. Eminem should also benefit from a full week of sales for “Berzerk” as it could land a Top 10 placing this weekend.

And whilst Avicii could still be imbedded within the Top 5 with his former No.1 “Wake Me Up”, he could also debut within the Top 10 with his new single “You Make Me”, and looking at a Top 15 debut could be X-Factor favorite Dami Im with her version of Prince’s “Purple Rain”. And after debuting at No.25 this week, OneRepublic could be set for another big hit as “Something I Need” could jump at least ten places.

Miley Cyrus could enter the higher Top 30 with her new single “Wrecking Ball” and after her X-Factor performance of her new single, Ricki-Lee could also grab a Top 30 placing for her new song “Come & Get in Trouble With Me”, and after leaping up to No.48 last week, Drake could jump again into the thirty with his new single “Hold On, We’re Going Home”. Paramore landed at No.41 this week with “Ain’t it Fun”, and it could move up ten places this week, with the same for HAIM and their track “The Wire” (TW-49).

X-Factor contestant Jiordan Tolli could see her rendition of “Thriller” make the Top 40, whilst last weeks debut at No.64 for Will Sparks & Joel Fletcher with “Bring it Back” could leap twenty-five places this week into the lower Top 40, and it looks like the MKTO visit could also bring their first single “Thank You” (HP-2) back into the Top 50. Last weeks No.59 debut of “American Girl” for Bonnie McKee could be a high Top 50 hit this week and after the A.G.T. performance of “Diamonds”, the Rihanna song could be back within the lower fifty this coming weekend.

Lower 50: US rockers All Time Low could land their first singles chart entry this week inside the top sixty with their epic new single “A Love Like War”, with Avril Lavigne set to debut just behind them with her new track “Rock and Roll”, whilst the new James Blunt track “Bonfire Heart” could land within the Top 70 at the moment. MIKA has teamed up with Ariana Grande and their collaboration “Popular Song” could enter the charts, plus we could also see entries for Aaron & Ben Wheeler with Nigel Thompson on their rap track “I’m a VIP”, the new Bruno Mars single “Gorilla” which he performed at the MTV VMA’s, Gossling could enter with her solo track “Never Expire”, and we could see the Euro dance track “Live for the Night” by Krewella, and the dark and epic sounding London Grammar with their new single “Wasting My Young Years” also enter.

Albums:
Local church Hillsong could have some competition for their music this week, as California’s Bethel Church have released their first CD under the name Bethel Music, the album is called “Tides” and is currently the No.1 selling album on several download providers. But also selling well is last weeks No.1 “Paradise Valley” for John Mayer which could also be joined by the debut album for Ariana Grande entitled “Yours Truly” and the new Nine Inch Nails set “Hesitation Marks”.

Maintaining their Top 10 presence should be Pink, Imagine Dragons, Boy & Bear and they could be joined for the first time by OneRepublic and “Native”. Another possible Top 10 debut could come from Bon Iver front man Justin Vernon and his side project Volcano Choir, whose second album “Repave” is a likely contender.

Further new entries look likely for The Jungle Giants with “Learn to Exist”, The Paper Kites and “States”, Miguel and “Kaleidoscope Dream”, G-Dragon and “Coup D’Etat, Part 1”, Naughty Boy and his new Emeli Sande infused album “Hotel Cabana”, and with TV interviews and doco’s for Michael Jackson (60 Minutes/XF performance of “Thriller”) and ABBA (Channel 73/Mate on Tuesday night) they could see their Best of collections climb this week.
