Opry Legend Little Jimmy Dickens Has Radiation Treatment On His Vocal Cords

Little Jimmy Dickens, who has been a regular at the Grand Ole Opry for 66 years, will be missing a few weeks of performances while he undergoes radiation therapy on his vocal cords.

Dickens, 92, has already missed numerous performances since the beginning of the year but the doctors are confident that after three weeks of radiation treatment for pre-cancerous growths on his vocal cords, the singer will be ready to once again hit the stage.

Jimmy’s last appearance was a surprise show on April 12. Previously, he had not performed since December 22.

Dickens has been a member of the Opry since 1948 and the Country Music Hall of Fame since 1983.
