Original Bananarama Line-Up To Tour US For First Time

Siobhan Fahey was part of Bananarama for seven years, from 1981 to 1988 during the time when the group had nine British top tens and hit that height in the U.S. with Cruel Summer (1983 / #9), Venus (1986 / #1) and I Heard A Rumor (1987 / #4).

One thing Siobhan didn’t get to do, though, was tour. Bananarama was not a touring band until 1988, after Fahey had been replaced by Jacquie O’Sullivan, when they embarked on their first world tour.

Two years ago, Fahey and the other two original members, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward, got together for a barbecue and to catch up. The talk eventually turned to touring with both Sara and Keren convincing Siobhan that she would love the stage.

That was the beginning of the road that would lead to November 9 when the trio will start their U.K. tour at the SSE Arena in Belfast. 23 dates are set for their U.K., which runs through December 17, with twelve of the shows already sold out.

Then, on February 18, the group hits American shores for the first time together for four dates on both coasts.

The trio said in a statement “America, you’ve been waiting for this one! It took a little while but we’re finally coming to North America as a trio, and we’re excited to give you an unforgettable show.”

The dates:
02/20 – Los Angeles, CA – The Novo
02/21 – San Francisco, CA – The Warfield
02/23 – Toronto, ON – Danforth Music Hall
02/24 – New York, NY – Playstation Theatre
