Mary J. Blige and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs have teamed up to produce a documentary on Blige that is headed for Amazon.

The film promises to show Blige reflecting on “a personal and never before seen look into the emotional journey of [her] past struggles with poverty, abuse, addiction, and heartbreak,” a press release reveals.

In 2018 and 2019 Blige revisited her seminal 1994 Diddy-produced album My Life, taking it on tour to celebrate its 25th anniversary. This documentary will feature footage of these shows.

“This album and its songs directly correspond to the love, motivation, passion and healing that Mary J. Blige was experiencing then and has continued to experience through her life as an artist and human being,” the press release says.

There is no word on who is directing the film, and no release date has been set.

It is not Blige’s only film project. She was recently cast as Dinah Washington in the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, where she’ll star alongside Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker and Marc Maron. Respect is scheduled for an August, 2020 release.
