Gary Owens, veteran broadcaster and announcer for the 60s and 70s comedy Rowen and Martin’s Laugh-In’, has died at the age of 80.

Owens died from complications to diabetes. He had been a diabetic since childhood.

Owens spent an entire career as a broadcaster and voice-over man. On radio he spent 20 years at KMPC in LA. On television, Owens was the voice of Roger Ramjet in the 60s cartoon series and also the very first Inspector Gadget for the pilot episode.

Before Dan Rowan and Dick Martin signed him to their comedy show, Gary Owens was the announcer of Bewitched and for Disney. His first on-camera role was as a war correspondent on McHale’s Navy and also had a part in The Green Hornet.

Gary Owens died had his home in Encino, California on February 12, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Arieta and sons Scott and Chris.
