Radio Legend Keith McGowan Dies At Age 70

Australian radio legend Keith McGowan has died at the age of 70.

McGowan passed away at 11:40pm Sunday December 22, 2013 after suffering a stroke at his home in the early hours of Friday morning.

Keith McGowan hosted the midnight to dawn The Overnighters program on Melbourne’s 3AW for 21 years from 1990 before he retired in July 2011.

His first radio job was at Melbourne’s 3UZ in 1957 and at one point hosted the breakfast program on 2UW in Sydney. At one time he also had his own TV show, ‘Teen Time On Ten’ in regional Victoria.

In 1979 Keith McGowan had a hit single with ‘A Little Boy’s Christmas Prayer’.

Keith’s wife Angela announced his passing on Facebook. “R.I.P’ Goodbye my one true love. Keith McGowan, 09/03/1943 – 22/12/2013”
