Rewind 80s Downsized And Moved

The Rewind 80s festival has been downsized and moved to Sydney.

The two-day event was to take place outdoors in Wollongong but has been moved indoors to Sydney. It will now take place at the Hordern Pavilion.

While the organisers are blaming the possibility of bad weather for the change of location it should also be noted that the crowd expectation for the outdoor event in Wollongong was 30000 and the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney only holds 5000. Unless promoter Shane Sanderson is a brilliant long-range weather forecaster we can assume that ticket sales stiffed.

The line-up for Rewind 80s included Kim Wilde, Midge Ure (Ultravox), ABC, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Right Said Fred, Nik Kershaw, Ross Wilson, Pseudo Echo, Mental As Anything and John Paul Young.

However, missing from the line-up at the new venue are The Human League, Kool and the Gang, Candi Staton, The Straits and Sister Sledge.

People who booked airfares and accommodation to go to this one-off event in Wollongong must be mighty pissed off by the news. So too would be Wollongong City Council who got behind the event.

A revised line-up for Rewind 80s is yet to be announced.

Four Corners Sony Music Expose Is Just The Tip of the Iceberg

Let me start by saying I am not a fan of ‘Trial By Media’. The objective for a television program is eyeballs, not a legal conclusion. That is precisely what a huge brand name like Sony Music can deliver. Four Corners simply opened a door and allowed viewers a peak inside the entertainment industry and it was pretty ugly.
