Smash Mouth Are Heading Back To Australia

Smash Mouth will be back in Australia in November for the first time since 2013.

In 2013 Smash Mouth played seven shows in Australia. For 2018 they’ll go one better with Lennard Promotions announcing eight shows starting in Sydney on November 8.

Smash Mouth formed in San Jose, California in 1994. This tour will feature original singer Steve Harwell, bass player Paul De Lisle and guitarist Greg Camp. Drummer Kevin Coleman left in 1999 soon after the release of the second album ‘Astro Lounge’, due to health issues.

Smash Mouth broke worldwide on the first album ‘Fush Yu Mang’ in 1997. The title was a reference to Al Pacino’s character Tony Montana in Scarface who pronounced “fuck you man” as “fush yu mang”.

The album generated Smash Mouth’s first hit ‘Walking In The Sun’. The song reached number 7 in Australia.

The band cracked the Australian charts a year later with ‘Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby’. It peaked at number 14.

Smash Mouth’s quirky cover of The Monkees ‘I’m A Believer’, written by Neil Diamond, landed then back in the Australia Top 10 in 2001, peaking at number 9. The song was featured on the Shrek soundtrack.
