Music streaming giant Spotify has officially launched in Australia.

Spotify

The service, which streams pretty much any music anywhere and allows users to make and share playlists, officially launched in Australia last night with a “G’day Australia. Spotify here.”

It offers three ways to listen to their 16-million-song catalogue.

Spotify Free: Obviously without cost, but jam-packed with ads.
Spotify Unlimited: The same as free but without the ads, charged at $6.99 per month.
Spotify Premium: Allows offline as well as online listening across all devices, as well as special content, prizes and offers, charged at $11.99.

There’s also a Free Premium Trial floating around on the site and via the downloadable platform. It works on tablets, smartphones, and computers.

Spotify has millions of songs, but certain artists don’t appear on the service (like The Beatles, AC/DC, Adele’s 21 album).

Pat Carney of The Black Keys refused to have El Camino streaming, saying, “Maybe in a couple of years we’ll allow that album to be streamed, but there’s a lot of stuff about these services that people don’t really know. It’s kind of set up to be a little bit more fair to the labels than it is for the artists I think, so that’s why we made that decision. That said, we do allow the ‘Lonely Boy’ song to be streamed.

Try it out here.
