Sunnyboys have maintained one annual tour since 2012

When Sunnyboys regroup for By The C in January it will mark an annual tradition they have kept since 2012.

Sydney’s Sunnyboys split in 1984 after third album ‘Get Some Fun’. The self-titled debut of 1981 went all the way to Platinum but Sunnyboys faded as fast as they rose.

Singer Jeremy Oxley tried to put the band back together in 1987 (and succeeded) but the fourth album ‘Wildcat’ failed to create a ripple. The band broke up again in 1990.

The band reformed again in 1991 to support the Mushroom Records best of ‘Play The Best’. They reformed again in 1998 for the Mushroom 25 Concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After that one they went into a 14 year hiatus.

The original Sunnyboys line-up reformed again in 2012 for Dig It Up, an event organised by Hoodoo Gurus. Their 45-minute set at the Enmore was released as a Live DVD.

The newfound energy soon delivered a 2013 national support for Elvis Costello. That was followed by the 2014 headline tour, the 2015 A Day On The Green shows with Hoodoo Gurus and Violent Femmes, more A Day On The Green shows in 2016, their own Enmore show in 2017 and a Zoo Twilights performance in 2018.

Sunnyboys will perform with Icehouse, Do Re Mi, Mental As Anything and The Church for By The C in Newcastle, Wollongong, Coolangatta, Geelong and Adelaide.

By The C dates

19 January, Newcastle, Camp Shortland
20 January, Wollongong, Stuart Park
2 February, Coolangatta, Queen Elizabeth Park
9 February, Geelong, Leura Park Estate
10 February, Adelaide, Glenelg Beach
