A statement released this afternoon from The Angels stated, “John and Rick Brewster, Dave Gleeson, Nick Norton and Sam Brewster are deeply saddened to learn that our bass player, Chris Bailey, has an aggressive, life threatening cancer and is now undergoing palliative chemotherapy”.

Chris Bailey joined The Angels in 1976 and left in 1982. He rejoined the Brewster Brothers line-up and is the bass player on the band’s recent ‘Take It To The Streets’.

Sam Brewster, John’s son, will continue on bass duties for his dad for the upcoming tour.

“John’s son, Sam has been playing bass with us for the past five months since Chris’s illness began,” they said. “Chris has been very helpful to Sam. The two have formed a good friendship and Sam will now continue with Chris’s blessing”.

Doc Neeson, the original singer with The Angels, was diagnosed with a brain tumor over Christmas. He will begin treatment this week.
