The Grateful Dead were, by far, the winners in last week’s Billboard Box Score, taking in $52,232,413 for their two shows in Santa Clara, CA and three at Soldier’s Field in Chicago.

The Dead were also the leaders for attendance with 361,933 in the five sellouts. Their final show saw attendance at the venue of 70,094, beating U2’s old record by just over 2,000 tickets.

The band more than doubled the second place artist on this week’s box office list, Taylor Swift, who took in $26 million for six shows in Ottawa, Montreal, East Rutherford, NJ (2) and Washington, DC (2) and Swift, herself was far ahead of number three, veteran country artist Kenny Chesney with $9 million over six shows.

In fourth were the final shows on Bette Midler’s Divine Intervention tour, all in the U.K., grossing $8.4 million. Included was the second highest grossing show of the tour at London’s 02 Arena where she brought in $3.2 million. The only better stop was Madison Square Garden where she made $3.5 million over two shows. Overall, the tour grossed $32 million.
