In the ramshackle glamour of Kensington’s Revolt arts centre, the cream of Australia’s indie music scene ate, drank, were merry, and picked up awards dished out by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association.

The Jezabels were the only artist to nab two awards: Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Single/EP for Dark Storm.

The other big awards were scooped up by Emma Louise for Breakthrough Independent Artist and Adalita’s self-titled debut for Best Independent Album.

The popularly-voted Jagermeister Most Hunted Award went to rapper 360, who was his usual cheeky self in the acceptance speech of the evening.

My Disco’s Little Joy won Best Independent Hard Rock Or Punk Album, Gurrumul’s Rrakala won Best Independent Blues And Roots Album, Wagons’ Rumble Shake And Tumble won Best Independent Country Album, Drapht’s Life Of Riley won Best Independent Hip Hop/Urban Album, Pnau’s Soft Universe won Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album, and Sandy Evans When The Sky Cries Rainbows won Best Independent Jazz Album.

This year was the first for a new category, Best Independent Dance, Electronica Or Club Single, and the win was another first: a tie. The award was shared by Tommy Trash And Tom Piper’s ‘All My Friends’ and Seekae’s ‘Blood Bank’.

Calling All Cars opened the night, and performances came from The Holidays, Illy with Owl Eyes on his hit single ‘It Can Wait’, a shy Emma Louise with ‘Jungle’ and winding up with Adalita’s award and a performance of her latest single ‘Fool Around’.

Look out for Noise11’s interviews from the night with Adalita, Harmony, Joelistics, Illy, Sietta, The Holidays, Big Scary, Emma Louise and Stonefield soon.
