The Seekers, Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Bruce Woodley and Keith Potger, have each received The Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The four members of The Seekers have been given the award “for distinguished service to the performing arts as an entertainer, through seminal contributions to Australian music, and as a supported of not-for-profit organisations”.

“We are thrilled and delighted to accept such an honour,” singer Judith Durham said in a statement.

The Seekers were each named Australian of the Year in 1967. In 1995 they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. In 1995 Judith Durham was also honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to music as an entertainer and composer.

Last week, The Seekers wrapped up the UK leg of their 50th Anniversary tour with shows at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London. “What an incredible honour to go with our 50th Anniversary Celebration, and recognition with our friends and fans all over the world,” Athol Guy said.

The Seekers spent the past month playing sell-out shows across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Judith Durham and Bruce Woodley returned to Australia on this weekend. Keith Potger has remained in the UK to play more shows with Frank Ifield and Athol Guy is holidaying with his family in France.
