Troy Cassar-Daley isn’t upset about the ARIA recount yesterday that robbed him and Adam Harvey of a number one album. As far as Troy is concerned, it is time for “another beer”.
The term “data error” is officially going down as the official reason the ARIA chart was recalculated yesterday and as a result the number one record by Troy Cassar-Daley ‘The Great Country Songbook’ and no 2 by Kayne West ‘Yeezus’ was switched places as of Monday afternoon but Troy isn’t worried at all. In fact, he has sent Kanye West his best.
“Hey Folks, Apparently my mate, Adam and I should be disappointed about being pushed out of #1 spot by Kanye due to a “chart recalculation”,” he said in a statement at his website today. “Far from the truth, we’re still celebrating! For two artists who are still selling albums, successfully touring and still playing major festivals after 20 years we’re stoked at how The Great Country Songbook has debuted. Thanks to our great fans for buying this album, see you on the road. Now for another beer, cheers Kanye!”
It is not all good news for Kanye. ‘Yeezus’ sold 9,514 units in last week’s chart. That makes it the 9th fastest selling album of the year behind Daft Punk, Michael Buble, Justin Timberlake, Birds of Tokyo, Queens of the Stone Age, Bernard Fanning, Bon Jovi and Paramore.
However Kanye West ‘Yeezus’ was released on a Tuesday in line with the international release date giving it only 3 days on sale to generate the 9,514 units.
New releases are Friday in Australia but Kanye’s label didn’t want to risk a leak of illegal downloads before the USA release. So Australia was delayed. Had the album been released on the Friday it would have easily sold more than Michael Buble’s ‘To Be Loved’ 15,487 figure and it would have become the second fastest selling release of 2013 so far, instead of the 9th.
