Fanfare Records is behind the latest successes for Russell Morris ‘Sharkmouth’ (ARIA #6) and Renee Geyer (ARIA #22).

Wendy will release ‘The Welcome Fire’, her first album of original material in 12 years, through Fanfare in August.

‘The Welcome Fire’ was produced by Wendy with John Castle (Washington, The Drones, The Cat Empire).

Wendy Matthews co-wrote every track on the album with a line-up of songwriters including Josh Pyke, Megan Washington, Mark Sholtez, Rod McCormick, John Castle, Kim Richey, Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci.

In a statement Wendy said, “I’ve had the luxury of taking a couple of years to write with some fantastic and diverse people for the first original album for me in 12 years, so I’m thrilled to have found a home with the Fanfare label. The last record was on my own little label and I learned much, but this feels like a true partnership and an exciting and new way of doing things.”

Wendy’s manager Dave Wilkins said, “I was excited when Robert Rigby took a shine to The Welcome Fire. As a manager you look for partnerships and synergies. What better way to go than back to one of the true great partnerships in Australian record releases, when Wendy Matthews & Robert Rigby worked on Lily together.”

Wendy Matthews’ biggest selling album ‘Lily’ sold over 500,000 units in Australia. Her single ‘The Day You Went Away’ sold over 300,000.

James Taylor Farewells Australia With Final Tour (Melbourne Review)

I could go to a James Taylor show just for the stories. The man is a part of music history and is still around to tell the tales of how it all began. Like, for instance, being the first artist signed to Apple Records. James “auditioned” for Apple with his song ‘Something In The Way She Moves’. "Paul went away and started the label and George went away and wrote the song”, he said.
