Willie Nelson has unveiled a statue of himself along Willie Nelson Boulevard in his hometown of Austin last Friday (April 20).

The Willie statue is outside the Austin City Limits Theater on the corner of Willie Nelson Blvd and Lavaca St in downtown Austin.
The 8-foot bronze likeness of the country superstar was dedicated to Willie Nelson last Friday on a day also marking the day to celebrate marijuana use.
Willie’s statue was unveiled at 4:20pm in April 20, (420 on 4 20) as a reference to the marijuana term 420 (four twenty) used in cannabis subculture as a reference to the use of cannabis.
To mark the occasion of the day, time and stature unveiling Willie sang his new song ‘Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die’ for the crowd and then signed autographs.
Willie’s pal Kris Kristofferson, the only other surviving member of their supergroup The Highwaymen, was at the unveiling.
Willie accepted the honour for the privately funded stature from Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell as marijuana smoke drifted through the crowd.
