Guy Pearce has previewed his second album ‘The Nomad’ by premiering the video for the title track here at Noise11.com.

‘The Nomad’ the album was produced by Joe Henry. The pair had actually worked together in 1999 on the movie ‘The Slipping-Down Life’. Pearce played musician Drumstings Casey in the movie and Joe worked on the soundtrack as music supervisor. The pair reconnected on Joe’s Australian tour of 2014.

While the album is personal Guy says it is not “a breakup album”.

Guy Pearce The NomadThe title ‘The Nomad’ is a reference to Guy’s father who was killed at Avalon Airport while taking off in a GAF Nomad when Guy was seven years old.

The video for ‘The Nomad’ was directed by Kerry Brown and filmed outside Prague. “It was fantastic to work with Kerry Brown again,” Guy Pearce said in a statement. “I first worked with Kerry in 2004 when he was our photographer on The Proposition, and then again in 2011 on Prometheus, as well as a couple of other films in between.

“This time though, it was as my director on this video for ‘The Nomad’ – the first song off my new album of the same name.

“This was an idea Kerry had while we were also shooting a much longer and more detailed clip, also for the same song.

“Here, Kerry wanted to see a raw, almost live performance of the song … a ‘teaser’, if you will. “The idea came to him while we were a couple of hours outside Prague scouting this disused factory location. It’s an ominous place that’s equally as beautiful as it is strange.

“To find me here with nothing but an old chair and acoustic guitar I think gives the video a spontaneous feeling that avoids all the tricks of modern film making. The song has a desolate feel to it, as does this clip.”

The Nomad will be released on July 6 worldwide.

Guy Pearce will launch The Nomad with a one-off concert at the Playhouse Theatre, Arts Centre Melbourne on Sunday, July 8. Tickets through artscentremelbourne.com.au.
