Chris Cobb joins Paul Cashmere at Noise11 to talk about his debut album, More Questions Than Answers, a deeply personal collection shaped by his childhood in Papua New Guinea, Australian music and a lifetime of memories.
Chris Cobb grew up surrounded by music. On his mother’s side came traditional chants and local bluegrass influences, while his father’s background brought choir singing and vocal production into his upbringing. At the same time, Australian radio introduced him to artists including Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel, Little River Band and John Farnham.
Those influences come together on More Questions Than Answers, which includes Chris Cobb’s interpretations of When The War Is Over, The Day You Went Away and Burn For You. He explains the powerful personal memories behind each song, including why The Day You Went Away became a tribute to his late brother during the COVID period and how Burn For You was the first song he ever performed publicly with a guitar.
Chris Cobb also discusses his 2025 Blind Audition on The Voice Australia, where his performance of When The War Is Over earned a four-chair turn.
The conversation explores collaborations with Felicity Kercher on Linger and Australian country music veteran James Blundell, as well as the unexpected story behind Gone Roman by Alex Rickson and why John Adams’ Amen became the closing track.
Chris Cobb talks about his own songwriting, including the contrasting approaches behind Down Down and Honey Dew, and explains how producer Dan Frizza captured the album with an intentionally natural sound, leaving room for the character and imperfections of the performances.
More Questions Than Answers debuted at No. 2 on the Australian country chart, marking a strong start for Cobb’s recording career.
