The Break

The Break is one of Australia’s most unique musical forces.

Brian Ritchie, Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie dropped by Noise11 and performed ‘Day 300’ from the Space Farm album and a cover of Kraftwerk ‘The Model’.

Made up of former members of Midnight Oil, Violent Femmes and now Hunters & Collectors the less informed would call The Break a “supergroup”. However, the sound of The Break is far removed from each member’s past musical styling that the term does not apply.

For 20 years, Martin Rotsey, Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst were the musical driving force of the powerhouse Midnight Oil. Tasmanian’s Brian Ritchie was a founding member of Milwaukee’s Violent Femmes. Joining the line-up for the second album ‘Space Farm’, The Break welcomed Jack Howard from the Hunters & Collectors brass section.

Watch Brian Ritchie, Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie perform at Noise11.
