Jason Mraz Says CDs Are Now Just Merch

Having just released his fourth studio album, Love Is a Four Letter Word, he says ‘its another evolution in [his] sound.’

‘I sing from the heart and just think about what will work in a live show. Everything else for me, and I don’t mean to belittle the album making experience at all, the CD becomes a merch [merchandise] item and becomes something the audience can pick up on their way out of the show.’

‘If you love these songs they’re available on this album. The record label doesn’t want me to talk in that manor but I love performing music and the CD is a way for me to categorise and to celebrate that body of work.

And that’s why we love the guy. See our whole frank exclusive uncut interview below.

You can next see Jason Mraz in the UK headlining the 20,000 seater O2 Arena on December 1st.
