Jim Keays, the legendary lead singer of iconic Australian rock band The Masters Apprentices, will be farewelled by family, friends and fans on Friday in Melbourne.

Masters’ bass player now entrepreneur Glenn Wheatley articulated it best when he said Jim was “always the master, never the apprentice”.

Jim Keays passed away after a seven-year battle with Multiple Myeloma on Friday, June 13.

After Jim’s death Glenn Wheatley said, “I had the pleasure of sharing some of the best years of my life with Jim Keays. I will always remember him as a consummate showman. Jim had an aura about him, you always knew he was in the room. Always the Master, never the Apprentice”.

Jim’s songs with The Masters Apprentices, ‘Because I Love You’, ‘Turn Up The Radio’, ‘Living In A Child’s Dream’, ‘Undecided’ and ‘5:10 Man’, have become classic Australian rock.

The celebration of the life of the legend Jim Keays is open to everyone who appreciated the man and his music.

The service will be held at Ormond Hall, 557 St Kilda Road, Melbourne at 12 noon this Friday, June 20.
