Rod Stewart took the lyrics to his classic hit ‘Sailing’ literally when he was ‘sailing, he was sailing, across the sea’ on Sydney Harbour on Thursday.

Rod Stewart and wife Penny Lancaster spent the afternoon on Sydney Harbour on board John Symond’s Xanadu as guests of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Sydney based manager Scott Dorsey and his wife Jo.

Scott Dorsey and Rod Stewart“I absolutely adore touring in Australia and to get an opportunity to spend such a great day with family and friends on this amazing harbour was truly special and one I shall not forget anytime soon,” Rod said onboard.

Rod was with his wife Penny and two sons Allister and Aiden and Pennys mother Sally and personal trainer Gary.

Scott tells Noise11.com, “We pulled into a little beach near Taronga Zoo and took the little dingy over and played soccer with Rod and the kids on the beach. Very funny on lookers when they started to recognise him and see this floating gin palace soccer on beach.”

The menu: “Beautiful lunch of Moreton Bay bugs and prawns and oysters and some beautiful Australian wine,” Scott said.

Rod performed in Sydney on Wednesday. He will perform in the Hunter Valley and then Brisbane before heading to New Zealand next week for three more shows.
