Taylor Swift has scooped six nominations at the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs).

The 23-year-old singer is a long-time favourite of the event, having taken home the entertainer of the year gong twice previously.

She could be making it a third this year, but faces competition from the likes of Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton.

Taylor has another five nominations, including in the coveted female vocalist of the year category.

Here she is up against Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood.

Her hot album Red could also win in the best album category, while she also has nominations for musical event of the year, music video of the year and single of the year.

Newcomer Kacey is hot on the heels of country queen Taylor, having also scooped nominations for best female artist and best album.

She could also win big in the new artist category, where she is up against fresh faces Florida Georgia Line, Lee Brice, Kip Moore and Brett Eldredge.

Heading up the male country singers is Blake Shelton, who scooped five nominations.

As well as entertainer of the year, he is up for musical event of the year, best album, male vocalist and music video of the year.

The awards will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley on November 6.
