Alan McGee Talks Up A Book For Oasis

The Oasis story will be coming to a book soon with thanks to the band’s former manager Alan McGee.

Alan McGee, one of the UK’s independent music scene’s most colourful and influential figures, has released his first ever memoir, detailing the highs and lows of a career which has left an indelible mark on the history of independent music and popular culture in the UK.

The founder and owner of iconic independent record label, Creation Records, McGee’s memoir charts an incredible and unique career, and sees him open up about everything from discovering Oasis, to having his partner ‘pestered’ at a dinner party by none other than Jimmy Savile.

He also writes, with typical candor, about the raves and excesses which became synonymous with his time at the record label; including his much publicised addiction to drugs, and the nervous breakdown which came about as a result of this.

Watch our video in which McGee discusses his initial impressions of Oasis frontmen the Gallagher brothers, his thoughts on Pete Doherty and the challenges of managing The Libertines, and reflects on a career spanning 30 years in music.
