Dennis Farriss, the father of the INXS Farris brothers Jon, Tim and Andrew, died on November 10 at age 87.

The Farriss Brothers were born in Perth, along with their younger sister Alison. Dennis was the Western Australian manager for an insurance company and moved the family to Sydney in 1971.
Dennis bought instruments for the boys and encouraged their interest in music. “They were always behind us,” Jon said in the INXS biography. “They just let us play all the time. I was playing drums in my bedroom. We had a very typical, middle-class life, not wanting for anything else, but our house was in no way big enough that you could not hear all of it. And for a long time there, I’m sure it was just an awful racket. Coming out of one room, you’re hear guitar, another drums, and in the other piano. And none of them playing together.”
Jill Farriss passed away in 1996.
