Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris will release a new three-CD set comprised of their two Trio albums and a disc of bonus material on September 9 via Rhino.

The three singers were all at the top of their career when they first came together in the mid-70’s to record a collaborative album but they were never able to get one recorded and released due to their schedules and the fact that each recorded for a different label.

They returned to the studio in the mid-80’s and, with producer George Massenburg, produced Trio, an album that hit the top of the country chart and went to number 8 on the Billboard 200 on the strength of four top ten country singles, To Know Him Is To Love Him (1987 / #1 Country), Telling Me Lies (1987 / #3 Country / #35 Adult Contemporary), Those Memories of You (1987 / #5 Country) and Wildflowers (1988 / #6 Country).

In 1994, they once again recorded together for the album Trio II which wasn’t released for five years due to contractual obligations and schedules. The set reached number 4 on the Country Albums on 62 on the Billboard 200.

These two albums make up the first two discs of the new set while twenty rarities, both unreleased songs and alternate takes, make up disc 3.

A separate single disc, My Dear Companion: Selections From the Trio Collection, will be released on the same day.
