Kate Bush Bans Cameras In Gigs

Kate Bush will not allow fans to take pictures at her shows.

Last week, Peter Frampton got so tired of a couple in the front row taking pictures of him, even after he asked them to stop, that he grabbed the camera and threw it into the upper part of the theater.

Kate Bush is looking for a similar outcome with a less drastic tactic. Bush has gone on her official web site and asked fans to not take pictures or video of her upcoming shows as she needs to connect with her audience.

Hallo,

Many thanks to everyone who sent such lovely wishes for my birthday. I had a wonderful day.

We’re all very excited about the upcoming shows and are working very hard in preparation. It’s going very well indeed.

I have a request for all of you who are coming to the shows:

We have purposefully chosen an intimate theatre setting rather than a large venue or stadium. It would mean a great deal to me if you would please refrain from taking photos or filming during the shows. I very much want to have contact with you as an audience, not with iphones, ipads or cameras. I know it’s a lot to ask but it would allow us to all share in the experience together.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Respectfully yours,
Kate

In the past, it has been easier to keep photography and recording equipment out of shows because of the size of the devices; however, now that all such functions can be done with things like smart phones, it has gotten to be near impossible for artists and venues to control the concert goers. Some artists are happy to have fans record the shows or shoot pictures and video but people need to learn respect for those artists that choose to not allow such activities to happen at their concerts.

Bush is scheduled to play 22 shows at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith, London from August 26 to October 1.
