Chet Faker is over. Nick Murphy will record his next album under his own name.
Chet/Nick announced his move on his Facebook page this morning.
“its been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since.
“theres an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where its going.
“the next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy.
“Chet Faker will always be a part of the music.
“This is next,” he said.
As Chet Faker, Murphy has been one of Australia’s most successful music exports of the last two years. His ‘Built On Glass’ album reached no 31 in Belgium, no 76 in France, no 51 in The Netherlands, no 49 in Switzerland and no 87 in the UK.
‘Built On Glass’ was a no 1 album in Australia.
Chet Faker also had hits in Australia with ‘Drop The Game’ (no 18). ‘Talk Is Cheap’ (no 6), ‘1998’ (no 55), ‘Gold’ (no 40), ‘Bend’ (no 48) and ‘The Trouble With Us’ (no 8).
‘Gold’ also reached no 17 on Canada’s Rock chart and no 32 on America’s Alternative chart.
