Phil Everly was remembered with a service in the small Kentucky town of Powderly on Saturday.

Powderly has a population of just 842.

A memorial service was held for Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers on Saturday at the Merle Travis Music Center in Powderly, KY.

The music venue was important to the brothers for a benefit that they did every year from 1988 to 2001 at the location. The Everly family also has close ties to the Powderly area.

About two hundred people attended the memorial which included remembrances of the singer along with performances of songs that the duo made famous. Performers included Marty Brown, a Phil Everly tribute band and the Everly Cousins.

The Everly Brothers are also an influence on today’s stars. The new Billie Joe Armstrong & Norah Jones album ‘Foreverly’ is a complete cover of a 1958 Every Brothers album ‘Songs Our Daddy Taught Us’.
