Sheppard’s ‘Geronimo’ has been awarded Platinum status in the USA for sales of one million.
‘Geronimo’ was released on June 16, 2014 in the USA and was officially accredited Platinum on May 15, 2015, while at the same time a posthumous award was given for Gold (500,000 sales).
The video for ‘Geronimo’ has clocked up over 19 million views on YouTube.
‘Geronimo’ has been a number one hit in Australia and Czech Republic and a Top 10 hit in Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Slovaskia and Sweden.
Australian based acts to be awarded Platinum in the USA include The Veronicas ‘Untouched’ (2009), Gotye ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ (2012, 2013), Yolanda Be Cool ‘We Speak No Americano’ (2011), Guy Sebastian ‘Battle Scars’ (2013), 5 Seconds of Summer ‘Amnesia’ (2014)
While considered Australian acts by the ARIA and APRA, Sia, Iggy Azalea, Keith Urban and AC/DC do not reside, record, write or produce music in Australia.
